Description of Position

A Family Partner brings lived experience as a caregiver of a youth with significant mental health needs. Family Partners collaborate closely with triage call center staff, clinicians, and Program Directors to support parents and caregivers by helping them navigate child-serving systems, identify available community-based services and supports, and establish connections with self-help and peer support groups. We are seeking a Family Partner to join our multidisciplinary team who demonstrates strong cultural humility, effective time management, knowledge of community resources, and well-developed advocacy skills.

Job responsibilities will include:
  • Utilize personal and professional life experience to provide non-judgmental, unconditional peer support to parents and caregivers served by the CBHC.
  • Engage in a collaborative relationship with caregiver and support the parent/caregiver in meeting their youth’s needs.
  • Serve as a bridge to ensure that family and providers understand each other’s perspective and information.
  • Model effective coping techniques for parents and caregivers.
  • Promote parent/caregiver empowerment by including linkages to peer/parent support and self-help groups in the community.
  • Teach the parent/caregiver how to identify formal and community-based resources (e.g., after-school programs, food assistance, housing resources, etc.).
  • Complete referrals as needed and maintain documentation in our electronic health record.`

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or college diploma and a minimum of 2 years working with children/families
  • Experience as a caregiver of a youth with emotional and/or behavioral health needs
  • Experience navigating any of the child/family-serving systems and advocating for family members involved with behavioral health systems
  • Experience with crisis interventions and case consultations and collaboration.
  • The candidate must possess good organizational skills, as well as effective verbal, written and computer skills.
  • Proficiency with computers including ability to use or learn to use an electronic health record system, audio-visual communication technology (i.e. Doxy or Zoom), and some use of Microsoft Office suite for emails, internal document access, and organization.
