Description of Position

We are currently seeking a Team Leader to enhance our current services through MassHealth Flexible Services. You will have the opportunity to build a team of Housing Case Managers to assist households in a housing crisis to navigate systems to locate sustainable housing or help households maintain their current housing. As a leader of the Housing team you will gain skills and contacts in housing that will benefit you in any social services position. You will provide supervision and support to a team of case managers working throughout the Southcoast area. Strongly prefer multilingual (ability to speak and read either Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole) candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision to housing case managers, guide, direct and teach skills in obtaining and maintaining housing
  • Host meetings and provide training to the agency and collateral agencies regarding housing issues
  • Coordinate with client, local housing and homeless agencies as well as programs working to house and stabilize those in a housing crisis
  • Assist and accompany households in housing court to assist in advocating for tenant rights and mediate in cases of eviction
  • Assist with applications for subsidized housing and benefits to increase income
  • Divert clients who are facing homelessness to resources including their own support networks to prevent homelessness
  • Collaborate with local landlords and other providers to establish housing for households in a housing crisis

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience working with homeless populations, and/or homeless programs
  • Knowledge of available referral sources for providing services to clients, including available community support and social service resources
  • Ability to drive throughout the county and at times transport clients required
  • Able to effectively interact with clients, co-workers, and volunteers with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and treat each individual with respect, dignity, and compassion
  • Communicate well both orally and in written form, and follow detailed instructions
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology or equivalent education plus experience
  • Multilingual (able to speak and read Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole)
