Description of Position

Seeking full-time psychiatric peer specialist for Community Crisis Stabilization Unit/Emergency Services Program located in Norton, MA.

In concert with the Emergency Services Program (ESP) and Community Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCS), the Peer is responsible for the general daily care of program clients and primary program service delivery, including:

• Provide range of rehabilitation and support services;
• Orients admitted individuals to the unit;
• Assists with meal preparation;
• Participates in the assessment and therapeutic engagement of ESP/CCS clients;
• Works with clients and staff in developing and implementing person-centered individual treatment plans;
• Assists in the teaching of daily living skills;
• Transports and/or accompanies clients to appointments which connect them to community resources and services;
• Acts as an advocate for client to secure needed services and financial entitlements;
• Locates and/or establishes self-help and support groups for team clients, families, and/or significant others;

Requirements

This position requires Certification as Peer Specialist (CPS); Degree in human services preferred. Must have lived experience as a person in psychiatric recovery with at least two years of sustained recovery time and experience working with diverse populations. Employed experience in mental health field preferred. Must possess good organizational skills, effective written, verbal and computer skills.
