Description of Position

CCBC is seeking a full-time licensed practical nurse (LPN) for our 24-hour, 8-bed crisis stabilization unit located in Norton, MA. Our unit is a short term, voluntary, no restraint psychiatric program for individuals who are experiencing acute psychiatric treatment needs which do not require a hospital level of care. LPNs are part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, physicians, and nurses creating a patient-centered environment of healing.

Job responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of psychiatric diseases and appropriate treatment modalities
• Administer and monitor medications
• Record and report observed symptoms and reactions to treatments and changes in patient status
• Participates in treatment team meetings, reviews referrals, and assists in development of care plans with the Nurse Manager and psychiatry team
• Complete client admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Collect patient data
• Provide nursing care and serve to educate clients with respect to the use of psychiatric medication
• Utilize community resources and referrals to empower clients to achieve their highest level of independent functioning

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited and/or approved practical nurse program
• Current, unencumbered license as a practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• Current certification in CPR
• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare and nursing services
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work with detailed, confidential material
• Preference for experience working with patients with behavioral/mental health or cognitive conditions
