RECOVERY LEARNING COMMUNITY

The RLC's goal is to stimulate and participate in a cultural change that establishes a focus on the promotion of recovery, resilience, wellness, and empowerment rather than symptom reduction alone.

Community Counseling of Bristol County is pleased to announce the development of the Southeastern Massachusetts Recovery Learning Community (SEMA RLC), an innovative local network of consumer-driven, consumer-delivered recovery supports and services designed to help individuals with serious mental illness achieve full community integration and assume meaningful life roles. This SE RLC is a part of a network of six regional RLCs located throughout the Commonwealth with multiple recovery-based components including:

  • A Resource Connection Center (RCC) that provides resource information, referral listings to a full range of community services, a library of recovery information, workshops, trainings, and individual and group support;
  • Community outreach to individuals, groups, organizations, and providers promoting recovery, wellness, and the services of the RLC and RCC;
  • Advocacy and unification activities in conjunction with other RLCs, persons in recovery and interested community stakeholders;
  • Consumers serving all the vital roles of the RLC including the program director, peer support workers, volunteers, and members of the Advisory Committee

What is an RLC? The SEMA RLC is run by and for those who have lived experience and are dedicated to the path toward recovery and wellness. The RLC offers peer advocacy and peer support with goal-oriented programs providing community outreach and self-help activities.

What do we do? The RLC creates a network of peer-run activities and offers information and referral resources. We provide access to peer support and self-help activities, peer advocacy, training opportunities. We also provide support to peer specialists and to peers working in traditional mental health settings.

We Believe:
  • Recovery is Real!
  • Support from individuals with lived experience is powerful, inspirational, and life changing.
  • A great deal of wisdom is gained on the path to recovery.
